DL380 G5 Fan Shutdown

Hi,

I have a client with a DL380 G5, he's had no end of problems with it including severl fan failures. Now one of the fan slots is broken. If he connects a new fan then it won't work.

This means he's constantly running on a reduced number of fans, and every so often another one fails. His server shuts down as a result.

He wants to bypass the sutdown process because the server isn't getting hot. I presumne this isn't possible but I said I'd try to find out.

Can anyone advise if it is possible and the implications.

Thanks
Iain

I would suggest to replace the motherboard.
The server is still under warranty.
Had a few similar cases.

Re: DL380 G5 Fan Shutdown

In the RBSU you can disable thermal shutdown but of course this is not recommended. (I believe the setting is under Server Availability.) Replace the motherboard, there is a standard three year parts warranty on this server.
