DL380 G5 WITH TWO PROCESSORS

Hi there,

I'm brand new to this forum and HP servers. Hope you guys can help me.

I have a DL380G5 S/N CZC8390JCP up and running with one processor E5345 so far so good.

After installing second processor (E5430) the server won’t boot (BLACK SCREEN)
On front panel, I have both processors led on (AMBER) and Internal Circuit (RED).

I checked for loose connection without success.

After removing second processor, server boots fine.

What is the best way to find out about hardware compatibility?

Many thanks for your help.

Regards,
Rodrigo

Re: DL380 G5 WITH TWO PROCESSORS

Hi,

I think your problem is that you are mixing different processors types.

In the DL380 Users guide, processor diagnostic section it says:

"Be sure you are not mixing processor stepping, core speeds, or cache sizes as this is not supported"

Your second processor is going to have to be a E5345.

Re: DL380 G5 WITH TWO PROCESSORS

The E5345 is only 2.33 GHz.

Better take a 2nd E5430 into use. (2.66GHz).
