DL380 G5 array configuration with rapid deploy not working
Hi,
we have some problems switching to rapid diploy 3.x and installing a DL380 G5. All works fine, only the system is installed on the wrong disk.
There are 6 drives in the server, 2 of them should be raid1, the other 4 raid5 with hotspare as second partition. But everytime we install the system via rapid deploy windows 2003 is installed on the raid5, which is marked "disc0" in the windows disk management.
we used out old script from rapid deploy 2.x

Any ideas whats wrong? I tried to switch the array name, logical drive numbers and checked the unattended.txt file - nothing worked.

Re: DL380 G5 array configuration with rapid deploy not working
Andreas,
Try swapping the cables on the ports of the raid controller. Your Mirror disks may be on port 2 and the Raid 5 disks on port 1 so they will be seen first when the controller is scanned.
When you move the cables you should get a message to accept the changes. This is OK and the controller should keep those changes.
Please try this and then try your RDP again.

Re: DL380 G5 array configuration with rapid deploy not working
Andreas,
You *should* be able to specify which drive and partition via the advance option switches (advanced button on the image deployment job). For example "-d2 p1" will place the image on disk 2, partition 1. The default is "-d1 p1" (disk 1, partition 1). You can find more details and options within the Altiris Deployment Solutino 6.8 Deployment and Migration Guide.
Hope that helps!
Regards,
Dave
