DL380 G5 memory configuration, mixed memory

Hi all,

I have a DL380 G5 with 6 GB memory onboard -

Board 0
DIMM 1A ( DDR2 ) 1024 Mbytes (667 MHz)
DIMM 3A ( DDR2 ) 1024 Mbytes (667 MHz)
DIMM 5B ( DDR2 ) 2048 Mbytes (667 MHz)
DIMM 7B ( DDR2 ) 2048 Mbytes (667 MHz)

ECC memory installed Yes

Number of modules 4
Configured for advanced ecc Yes
Configured for online spare No
OS W2K3 Server

Will this configuration work?
6GB installed but OS reads 3.25GB

DIMMs 1 & 3 are identical 1GB each
DIMMs 5 & 7 are identical 2GB each

Now OS (W2K3 Server) reads 4GB or 4096MB with the /PAE switch.

Any ideas as to why?

To elaborate more, Windows 2003 Server Standard Edition is installed.

According to this MSDN topic, the limit for this version of W2K3 server is 4GB. The /PAE switch does not seem to resolve this issue.
Is there a patch or solution for the 4GB limit?

Have you solved the problem?
I got the same issue. Identical configuration. I ran RHEL 5 and it detects 3.4 GB.
