DL380 G5 not picking up SAS disk

Hi,

Just replaced a 146Gb SAS Single Port disk with a 146Gb SAS Dual Port..............push and clip in........no power gets to the disk, system doesnt see it at all!!

Any suggestions

Drive part numbers? They have Hot-plug and non hot-plug versions. Also some of the systems needed a controller Firmware update to detect replacement drives that were hot-swapped.

Controller model and F/W version?

Yes, suggest you download the latest Firmware CD and update all the system components.

Thanks for that, if I update the System ROM (BIOS) and controller (P400) will it mess anything up or just update fine?

Hi Ian,

It depends on what revision your system is at. The iLO2 may have to be upgraded and some on-board controllers may require an update. This is why it's best to use the CD and update all applicable components to ensure complete compatibility and maximum functionality.

Read the release notes and have a good backup before doing any updates.

Make sure you also go to the earlier link I posted and pick your OS, then get the Support Pack, Drivers and Agents to optimize the system.

Update: firmware all updated, disk got picked up fine................raid rebuilt........disk reported failed.........swapped failed disk over...........disk rebuild failed again with Code 274!!

Any ideas?
