We have one uniprocessor DL380 G5 server. Before several month server shutdown itself every day and we change psu. Nothing good. After this PPM light come on. We changed PPM on processor and again nothin good. Server still shutdown itself with ppm light on with orange color and switch button light orange.

Re: DL380 G5 turn off itself...ppm light come on..new psu
DL380 G5 had known issue with older PSU revision. However, new revision of PSU has fixed for this issue.
if you have replaced both the PSU and PPM already then need to replace Power backplane to fix the issue. You may register a case ON ITRC with all the details with HP.
Further narrowign down the issue:
1. check with 1 PSU at a time.
2. bring the server to base configuration and check.
3. if you got identical working server then can swap PSU and power supply backplane for testing.
thanks,
Aftab

DL380 G5 service and Maintainence guide page no 60 explains the PSU backplane replacement procedure

PSU revision
Spares Kit 403781-001 with Power Supplies with Revision Level 03M or later AND a Green Dot in the upper right corner of the Power Supply label is not affected.

Re: DL380 G5 turn off itself...ppm light come on..new psu
we replace psu with correct version,we have new PSU backplane, we have new ppm module and server switch off again.
Old ibm steel servers 10 years old work like charm.

Re: DL380 G5 turn off itself...ppm light come on..new psu
this is strange behaviour.
If your server is serviced within the 90 days from HP with or without the warranty for the same issue, you can log a re-repair call with hp.
components related to power issues are : Power supply, Power suppply backplane, PPM, processor and Power switch itself.
only thing related to this power behaviour which is not replaced in your case is Power switch assembly.
thanks,
Aftab

2. light orange power on button and ppm light
3. light orange power on button and red psu light

Re: DL380 G5 turn off itself...ppm light come on..new psu
Warning lights on front panel after switch off can go in 3 combination:
1. light only orange power on button
2. light orange power on button and ppm light
3. light orange power on button and red psu light
looking at this scenario, I still suspect power supply.
I remember dl380 g5 has power supply issue and some latest revision is also affected.
Please make sure you have Green DOT next to PSU revision.
If you got identical server, Swap the PSU again.
thanks,
Aftab.
