DL380 G5 upgrading to ESX 3.5

I'm soon upgrading our DL380 G5 server to ESX 3.5.

Are the BIOS / System ROM updates cumulative??

Is there a SmartStart CD or something similar for this server with ESX on it??

I ask because I need to install two more hard drives and expand its RAID5 array, and I recall reading in the HP docs that the array configuration utility can be run from the SmartStart CD -- or am I wrong??

One of the two additional drives is to be storage, the other one is to be the "hot spare."

You can update to the latest BIOS using the latest firmware maintenance CD (8.10) available here:

To reconfigure the RAID array, then you can use ORCA when they system boots. Just hit F8 when prompted by the SmartArray as the system boots.

Neither ESX 3.0 nor ESX 3.5 is listed in the applicable operating systems for this firmware CD.

This makes me wonder if it is correct and proper to use this CD.

I already found a BIOS upgrade listed for ESX 3.0 and downloaded it, as well as the management agents and SMH for ESX.

Firmware maintainence CD's list of OS "DOES NOT" include esx3.0; Hence not recommended;

As per the link (previous post).. use firmware provided there.
