DL380 G6 External USB drive issue

Hi All,

I have a DL380 G6 running server 2012r2, this is running just fine, however.

When the backup runs via BackupAssist to my external USB drive, I always get these errors returned.

"An error was detected on device \Device\Harddisk3\DR89 during a paging operation."

These occur a few times for the first 5 mins from backup start and never occur again, I have no startede having a more serious message.

"The IO operation at logical block address 0x40028 for Disk 3 (PDO name: \Device\00000178) was retried."

This has happened a couple of times. Both errors have occurred on all the USB drives used.

I'm inclined to think it may be a USB driver issue, but am unsure on which driver to use as windows update says it's current.

Any ideas would be great.

Many Thanks

Richard

Re: DL380 G6 External USB drive issue

Might not be relates, but be advised HP servers don't support external USB-hard drives.
Especially the ones that take all the power from the USB connection are known to cause issues as the USB ports ob the servers don't give as much power as the USB ports on your normal consumer desktop/laptop.
Did my post help? Thank me with kudo's! :)
