hmmmm

you have 2 quad-core Intel Xeon E5520 with Hyper Threading so 2cpu's with 4 cores and also 2 threads each running , so it shows as 16 cpu's.

its just the way it assigns tasks to itself , it just makes out it is somebody else doing it ,,kind of assigns the jobs and runs threads

Re: DL380 G6 with Dual E5520's showing 16 processors, why?

So I would assume this will not affect S/W licensing as I still only have 2 CPU's with 4 cores for a total of 8 logical cpus and the hyper threading is providing multiple paths to the cores thus showing 16 CPU's?

That is correct, if the licensing is by socket the number of cores or threads will not effect licensing.
