DL380 G6 wont boot with 8GB DIMMs

Hi,

I have removed all the DIMMs from one of my DL380 G6's and replaced them with 8x HP 8GB 2Rx4 PC3-10600R-9 and inserted them in the slots as per the online memory configuration tool, see attached.  But the server wont even try to load the BIOS. If i remove the 8GB DIMMs and go back to the original 4GB ones, everyting is fine.

Any ideas?

Hi,

What is the part number of the DIMM you are installing?

Server has two processors or just 1?

Thank You!

Did you try 1 dimm at a time? I've noticed some servers get wonky when upgrading memory more than 1 dimm at a time. Probably has to do with CMOS settings in bios!

Also do you have 5600 series xeon or 5500? The 5500 series like 5520 are much more picky about ram choices!
