Hi,
I have installed a second drive cage and SAS Expansion card to DL380 G7.
At post the SAS Expansion card is not known to the system, I have the P410i still in use and am hoping that I won't need to disable the embedded Array Card.
I'm however still waiting for the cage backplane power cable, so there is no power at the moment to the backplan for the second drive cage.
Would this be the reason why the SAS Expansion card is no seen by the system? Should'nt the Controller be seen in anycase?
Jim

Re: DL380 G7 SAS Expansion Card not recognized
I think I found the solution, do I need to connect the P410i to the expander card and from the card connect the second drive?
https://support.hpe.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=c01734863
If I do follow this guide, does it mean I will lose my data from the first cage or will it be retained?
It's not clear at all what may happen when installing a second cage with expander card.

SolutionThe card is just an expander to the existing controller, it is not a controller.
You need to connect your existing controller to
The existing array(s) will survive.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: DL380 G7 SAS Expansion Card not recognized
ok I've decided to go for another P410 card with 1gb cache and battery pack for the second cage.. I would think this should be far better performance wise..
