DL380 G7 + Smart Array P822 capacitor recharging issue
I added a refurbished Smart Array P822 controller (with 2GB FBWC cache) to a DL380 G7 server. I'm getting the following error in IML.
POST Error: 1798-Slot X Drive Array - Array Accelerator Self-Test Error Occurred - Array Accelerator is disabled
Using the ACU I see that the cache module is permanantly disabled and capacitor 1 is recharging. I was getting that message for 48 hours. Noticing some visible damage to the capacitor's cable, I ordered a new one from HPE. After installling that I checked the ACU and the same issue persisted. I checked again after 24 hours to no avail. Finally I checked the LEDs on the cache module (LED3: on, LED2 and LED 1 off) and according to this troubleshooting doc the cache module is idle and the capacitor is charged. Also the heartbeat LED on the controller is flashing once a second.
The ADU report for the array, with the new capacitor installed.
Update: The firmware version is 8.32

Re: DL380 G7 + Smart Array P822 capacitor recharging issue
Hello,
SA P822 doesn't support with the DL380 G7.
Please follow the below-supported documents for more clarification.

Re: DL380 G7 + Smart Array P822 capacitor recharging issue
You are right. Smart Array P822 controller is supported on a DL380 G7, but the P812 which is supported, doesn't do SATA 3.0 (6 Gbps), which is what the 4 SSDs in the system use. This is a homelab system, so there isn't any budget to support buying SAS SSDs, or HDDs for that matter, to get 6 Gbps speeds.
If I enable No-Battery Write Cache, the controller can use the cache, and throughput (to the drives) increases. My question is whether the controller utilizes the connected capacitor, in case of unexpexted power loss, while that option is enabled.

Re: DL380 G7 + Smart Array P822 capacitor recharging issue
I installed P822 in DL360p Gen8 and got this error (1798). Not sure why. Card was sitting on shelf for some time but was in working order.
