DL380 Gen8 - BIOS update 3/2/2018
Hello,
Having an issue today trying to apply the latest firmware. I have tried through HP SUM and directly on the ESXi host. It is showing that it is not compatible with the hardware. The server is DL380 Gen8 P70 current bios is 2015.07.01 that installed from the baseline HP SUM.
Downloaded bios from here: https://support.hpe.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?sp4ts.oid=5194969&swItemId=MTX_b7dea47813224a3380b7f9e715&swEnvOid=4184#tab-history
Any advice would be great. The last ticket I opened this week with HPE for firmware updates turned into a two-hour call. It was such a waste of time.
Thanks,
Chris

Re: DL380 Gen8 - BIOS update 3/2/2018
Note, there is no DL380 Gen8, but a DL380p Gen8 and a DL380e Gen8.
I assume you have the "p" model.
Any error message during update?
The BIOS is the same version, the only new is the Intel microcode inside.
Consider This:
Unpack the BIOS bundle. You will find a file like this "CPQP7013.436" - this is the BIOS binary file.
Go to ILO, Administration, Firmware Update und select this file. This will update the BIOS, reboot after it is finished.
You may also get a SPP Image (SPP2017.04 or SPPGen8.1), create an USB Stick and add the "*.rpm" or "*.scexe" file, boot the stick and update.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
