configured in a raid 1 with 2 arrays
I want to add more storage and was wondering if I can get the 2 cage drive bay adapter and add 2 72 gig drives (in a raid 0 config)??
Looking at the link posted below
http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/10495_div/10495_div.html#Storage
it would seem that I am limited a a max of 109 gig?? I don't want to move to a external set up at least not yet :)
Any help is appreciated.
thanks

Re: DL380 Storage Options Help
the 2-drive expansion bay (157007-B21) would allow you to connect 2 extra drives.
I don't know if the 2-bay cage for the ML3xx series (244059-B21) would fit or work in the DL380 G1.
Where did you see that 109GB limit? Never heard of that. There's a maximum logical drive size, but that at least 512GB for older array controllers, and larger for newer ones.

Stephen

Re: DL380 Storage Options Help
That makes me very happy.
What is involved in using the 4314 external drive cage?
how would it connect to the DL380? I read that the external SCSI on the DL380 G1 is for a tape drive only, could I just connect a 4314 to the DL380 without any other equipment needed??

Solutionyou read correctly. The external SCSI connector is only for standalone Tape drives, no library or RAID support. To connect a 4314 shelf you would need an extra Smart Array Controller in one of the PCI slots. QuickSpecs say either a 431 or 5300.
