DL380 convert to simplex

I have a DL380 with 6 internal 146 GB drives set currently to duplex mode on the embedded controller. I need to convert to simplex mode so that I can use the external scsi port for a tape drive. Is this going to be data destructive to my existing hard drives? How do I find the procedure to do this without losing data on my drives?

Re: DL380 convert to simplex

This not be data destructive. After poweron Smart array will say that drives position is changed and all will work as usually.
Procedure you can find in Maintenance and Service Guide for your server generation.

Re: DL380 convert to simplex

Hi Tim!

The RAID configuration stored on disk drives, therefore you can move to simplex configuration without losing data and raid config.

1) Power down the server.
2) Remove the access panel.
3) Remove front fan bracket. (You do not need to remove fans.)
4) Remove the terminator module, the bottom clip first.
