Re: DL380 on Array 5i for logical drive extension

Are you looking to extend the C: drive? or a separate data drive on the same Logical drive?

Re: DL380 on Array 5i for logical drive extension

In order to extend the system drive, you will need to do one of several different things...

1. Backup your system with Ghost, or similar... recreate the Array and Logical drive... Re-image the machine.

2. Find a 3rd party utility like or similar to Partition Magic to modify the partition structure. It is questionable whether or not PM works with Windows Server 2003, but the general concensus is that it does not. I am not aware of the utilities used by others for this, but I know there are a couple.

3. Create a "D:" partition or mount the extra space as a folder/mountpoint on the C: drive.

There is no easy way to expand your System/OS drive. Data drives on the other hand are easily expandable/extendable via diskpart.exe.
