DL380 with 1702 SCSi cable error

Hi,
I have a DL380 connected to a HP 40/80 DLT and I am getting the 1702 Scsi cable error at boot. Its connected to the SCSI on board card on the DL 380 using SCSI ID 9. I have checked what SCSI ID's are free and this is one of them.
Any ideas would help

Re: DL380 with 1702 SCSi cable error

Hello Stephen,
There could be a couple of issues. One could be the bent pints or the termination issue. Other could be the SCSI channel being used internally as well as externally. For example this server has 2 internal channels (Port 1 and Port 2), Port 1 can be used for internal or external devices but not both in the same time. This is assuming we are dealing with Generation one server.

Re: DL380 with 1702 SCSi cable error

HI,
Thanks for your help. Yes it is a G1 server. I have tried swapping the SCSI ports internally but it doesn't pick up the SCSI device when I try SCSI port 2.
I have connected the tape drive internally and it works fine.

I have tried 2 different cables and the same issue arises. I'll keep using it internally for the time being.
