DL380G2:Sequential read discrepancy with 2 partitions on same RAID 5
I am running Win2k sp3 on Proliant DL380 G2. I have a Smart-5i controller and 3x18Gb in a RAID 5 configuration. I have 2 partitions (C:, D:) using Windows NTFS.
I am having disk performance problems so I ran a Sequential Read test. It seems the D: Drive is significantly slower than the C: Drive. How can that be with RAID 5? Is it a Windows problem? Will defrag help?
Thanks!

Specifically what utility was used to run the read test? What originally indicated/indicates disk performance problems?

Re: DL380G2:Sequential read discrepancy with 2 partitions on same RAID 5
Many problems with vendor software and Oracle database. However, in the end they ran Performance Test 5.0 from Passmark Software.
Results:
C Drive
Sequential Read 38.0 MB/s
D Drive
Sequential Read 6.7 MB/s
Not sure if this is a red herring or not. Just can't understand why I'd get different stats for 2 partitions in the same array.

Wild guess - but is indexing enabled on C: and not D: ?
How about compresssion on both?
