Re: DL380G3 server

Hi, I have managed to install both RH8 and 9 on these boxes. However, there is a compatibility problem with the installer, if installed from CD, when you install the second CD the installer bombs out. I got around this by NFS'ing the install.

I found out afterwards that if you give kernel options on boot of ide=nodma, then CD is okay, but I didnt try this method at install time.

I'm pretty sure that HP say they 'support' both, there is a chart somewhere either on the HP or redhat.com site.

hope this helps you

thanks

Re: DL380G3 server

Redhat 7.1 does not have a driver for the Broadcom nics in a DL380G3. After installation, install the .src.rpm for the bcm5700 driver available at:

http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/19936.html

Build and install the driver with make, make install

edit modules.conf and add:
alias eth0 bcm5700
alias eth1 bcm5700

Then run depmod -A

Then run netconfig to add the missing ifcfg-eth0 and ifcfg-eth1 file.

That should be it, let me know if you need any more info.
