DL380G4 - adding a disk

I have a DL380G4 running Windows 2000. I have an extra disk from
another DL380. It was bootable. I would like to plug this disk into the
DL380G4 temporarily and access it as a second drive. The ACU shows the 6i
controller with the system disk in slot 0 as array A, logical drive 1
(RAID 0). I have configured the other drive in slot 2 as array B, logical
drive 2 (RAID 0). Windows disk manager shows drive 0 as basic with healthy
partitions. It shows drive 1 as unknown and unallocated.
How can I get Windows to recognize the temporary drive? If Windows
writes a signature to this drive, will the files become unreadable?

Richard,
At this point in Windows, you just have to allocate the space by assigning a drive letter to it in disk Managemnet.

Richard:

It sounds like you actually had to create Array b?

If so, then you probably can not get the data now. The array controller should have recognized the config that was stored opn the disk and automatically brought it online, unless there was something missing (in the case that the disk was part of a 3 disk array).

Was the disk originally a single disk in another server?

You may have to resort to other techniques to recover the data.

If all was well, Windows should be able to use the drive as it would have had a signature on it already. I suspect that if you have to write a signature now, Windows is already seeign a raw device.
