DL380G5 RAID upgrade

good day everybody!

we have DL380G5 with smart array p400 controller. Same disks in server is  431944-B21 (SAS) and part is  516814-B21 (SAS  6G), all perfectly work.

We want use  a full power SAS 6G technology.

I understand we need to change RAID controller to P420,

but can't understand need to be replaced cable from RAID to disk farm?

and disk farm support work on 6G speed?

Re: DL380G5 RAID upgrade

P420 controller can be used only on Gen8 servers and not on any other Generations

Re: DL380G5 RAID upgrade

ok. what you say about P410?

(i can't understand what meaning under  "P420 controller can be used only on Gen8 servers and not on any other Generations " ? it's a card with controller, and in hardware part be  work with any hardware with PCI-express port (pnP card). Or you talk about HP tested solution?)

Re: DL380G5 RAID upgrade

Yes p410 controller can be used on DL380 G5 servers, P420 controllers are designed to be only on Gen8 servers .

HP Smart Array P222, P420, P421, and P822 Controllers should NOT be configured in HP ProLiant G6 or G7 servers. Installing these controllers in an HP ProLiant G6 or G7 server is not supported and could possibly result in damage to the controller
