DL380G5: SA P400 Firmware Update Fails

Hi,

as you can see below: the actual firmware is definately older but the tool thinks at the same time that it is not .... (see log below)

Any ideas except updating with FW UPD CD?

Best regards,

Erhard

Yes.

Some of the components you must run with /force.

I have seen this problem with the 3.52 FW for the P41 etc.

cp013970.exe /silent/force.

altenately:
Run the FW DVD on-line or off-line.

Re: DL380G5: SA P400 Firmware Update Fails

Hi,

I was about to do so (running the cp with the /force) but ....

> have seen this problem with the 3.52 FW for the P41 etc.

since I have seen those problems as well as with previous firmware updates I remembered that I extracted the CPxxxxxx and ran the setup.exe instead which then resulted in an "incorrect OS version error".

So I lost a good deal of my confidence and just running cp013970.exe with the force option seems a bit uncareful to me.

Unfortunately I do not have a DL380G5 for testing. Can we make sure that there is at least a firmware for the P400 in the cp013970? Not that I have an E200i afterwards...

Best regards

Re: DL380G5: SA P400 Firmware Update Fails

Well my experience is that some packages fail, if you run them with /silent only.
Ei the 3.52 fail, but the 3.66 doesn't, for the P410.

Only downside of using /force, is that it will do a downgrade, in case you would have a newer FW installed.
ei. if you have got a 7.22 installed and then run the 7,18 fw packages with /force, then it will downgrade.

If you don't like that. You must run the full DVD.

Re: DL380G5: SA P400 Firmware Update Fails

Hi,

well I think I will do it the careful way.

I think that I am still too accustomed to the carefully tested HP software of earlier days.

Thanks however.

Best regards

Re: DL380G5: SA P400 Firmware Update Fails

Performing an offline firmware update neither is what I wanted to do nor does it have the slightest thing to do with a debugged Online ROM Flash.

So the problem is not solved but only worked around.
