DL380G5 and BL460C cannot install w2k3 ENTERPRISE (but can standard!)

I have an oddity and need to see if anyone else has expereicned this 2 things really

1) I have tried now with MS VLA, select and regular purchase copies of WIndows 2003 Enterprise, it will not install on ou 10 BL460C's or the DL380 G5, standard edition of w2k3 installs straight away.

WHen installing enterprise after the intiial copy and reboot the server hangs, black screen flashing cursor top let.

2) After creating a RAID 0 array and single lv using the array controller then adding a second disk i cannot expand the array and change the logical disk to be RAID 1+0 any ideas?

Thanks

Hello Adam:

Try Windows Server 2003 "R2" Enterprise Edition:

Thanks

Customer doesn't own R2 only "normal"... we need to be able to install regular windows 2003 enterprise edition, these servers should support it and previously i've installed it on DL380 G5 but not this one and not these blades....

What version of SmartStart do you use to deploy the system?

Hi,

I saw a similar thing with Server 2003 Enterprise a few weeks ago.

It may be unrelated but switching off Hyperthreading in the BIOS allowed the O/S to be built OK. Hyperthreading was then switched back on and the virtual CPU's could be seen OK. It may not help in you case but its worth to try. Enter F9 in BIOS, go to Advanced and disable Hyperthreading.

I hope this helps.

Turns out smartstart 7.80 cut in Asia Pacific has the issue, these servers were from AP shipped in by the customer (from india) to the UK..
