DL380G5 possible setup

Hello everyone,

I understand that this server supports up to 8 SFF drive bays. Is it possible for the Server to have 2x146GB 2.5'' 10K (RAID1) and 4x300GB 2.5'' 10K (RAID5) with the P400 conroller?

Thank you.

Re: DL380G5 possible setup

Yep ;-) put the 146GBs on one channel and the 300s on the other one and off you go.

Re: DL380G5 possible setup

Thank you for your answer. My reseller claimed that this is not possible in DL380. Are there any differences in the supported configurations among different countries?

Re: DL380G5 possible setup

The DL380 does NOT see the drives, the P400 sees the drives. You can mix and match any size and type drives. However when binding drives in array groups, within each array group you must have identical drives. That's exactly what you are doing.
By the way the P400 has separate channels to each drive bay.
Consider buying the 15k drives if they are available and are not much more expensive.

Re: DL380G5 possible setup

As far as i know there are only 72GB 15K HDD for the DL380. Problem solved, thanks for all the help.
