DL380G5 won't boot HDD when USB inserted
Problem:
Im making an unattended install, where I want answer files to be read from USB thumb drives. Unfortunately, when there is a bootable cd in the server, the server tries to boot from USB no matter the boot order.
What I want:
I want the server to boot from harddrive (with a bootable cd inserted) and ignore any inserted USB thumb drives.
Boot order:
IPL:1 CD-ROM
IPL:2 Hard drive C: (See boot controller order)
IPL:3 Floppy Drive (A:)
IPL:4 USB Drivekey (C:)
IPL:5 PCI Embedded HP NC373I Multifunction gigabit adapter
Error message: (with bootable CD inserted)
Attempting Boot from CD-ROM
Press Any key to boot from CD or DVD.....
Disk Error
Press any key to restart
(When a random key is pressed, the server will boot from harddrive, but since this is an unattended installation, I want as little user intervention as possible, and the serve reboots several times during installation)
BIOS info:
HP BIOS P56 01/09/2008
Bootblock 09/18/2006
Partial solution:
Disable Legacy USB support (System Options->USB control->Legacy USB Disabled) However, now you are unable to use a USB keyboard in BIOS, and you cant make changes to the BIOS over ILO Remote console.
Im sorry if this sounds confusing, let me know, and I will clear things up!

Re: DL380G5 won't boot HDD when USB inserted
I think I've found a work-around. Using CONREP I'll disable legacy USB support while the unattended windows installation is taking place, and then enable it again after the installation has completed.
I'll return with my findings.
If anyone wants a detailed explanation, just ask.

How have you do with CONREP?
Can you tell me in details?

Re: DL380G5 won't boot HDD when USB inserted
I used the partial solution. Use CONREP to disable legacy support. Do what you need to do. Enable legacy support with CONREP again after installation.
