DL380G7 590161-421 and universal PCI card

We ordered DL380G7 590161-421 with 494322-B21 (PCI-X raiser). Can we install PCI card to PCI-X slot? PCI card have both (5v and 3.3v) keys.

This PCI card works fine in PCI-X slot on DL380G4. But in DL380G7 specs I found this: NOTE: PCI-X support is limited to PCI-X cards only.

Hi,

You should only put cards in the server that are supported by HP in that type of server.

Re: DL380G7 590161-421 and universal PCI card

PCI-X or PCI eXtended was built mainly for high end use. It has a bus speed of 66 or 133 MHz and only used the 64 bit 3.3v slot. It is fully backward compatible though with the existing PCI architecture: 33/66 MHz PCI adapters (cards) can be used in PCI-X slots and PCI-X adapters can be used in PCI slots. PCI-X 2.0 came along and really upped the bus speed to either 266 MHz or 533 MHz, but was still fully backwards compatible.

So, why HP have "limited" PCI-X support on G7?

We cant just buy new PCI-E analog of CSA8000 Cryptographic Adapter for $10000 without reasons...
