DL380e Gen8 Upgrade CPU from Xeon E5 - 2407 to Xeon E5 2450 V2

Hello,
I would like to upgrade an DL380e Gen8 Server with one Intel Xeon E5 2407 CPU with two Intel Xeon E5 2450 V2 processors. The processors fit easily on the sockets. RAM is also installed for both CPUs.
It seams that both Xeon E5 2450 V2 processors are not working -> black screen, bios is not running.
If I install two Intel Xeon E5 2407 processors the system is running.
I also test the server with only one Xeon E5 2450 V2 processor. Same problem -> black screen, bios is not running.

Does the Xeon E5 2450 V2 processor needs another power supply?
Does anyone know the problem?

Thanks for all replies.

You might need to update the System ROM to support the different processor.  Looking through the System ROM revision history, you need to be at least running Version:2013.11.12 (20 Nov 2013) as that version added support for Intel Xeon E5-2400 v2 Series processors.

Hi There,

Got the same issue while trying to upgrade my HP Server DL380e g8 - from CPU E5-2407v2 to E5-2470v2 it won't boot it says bios hardware failed, when i tried to apply the bios version mentioned above it says you already have a newer version of bios which is dated 24/JUN/2019 so downgrade wont work, now am stuck without being able to use new cpus? any idea?
