DL380p G8 fan control problems
Helo,
I am new here and my english is not too good so sorry for it. And I am not an expert so sorry for my stupid questions too.
I have a dl380p gen8 server and it is running for 4 mounths without any problems but yesturday the fans started run on max speed. I didn't do anything with it, i mean i didn't install any other hard drives or pci card or anything so i don't know the reason for the fan problem.
I made a lot of diagnostic and test (with ilo and Intelligent Provisoning) but all of the results are ok. I have no idea what cause the max fan speed so can somebody help me or do somebody has an idea howe to solve it?

Re: DL380p G8 fan control problems
Try to do ILO RESET to reset all sensors.
ILO4 - > diagnostic -> reset
After, look the fans runs normaly
ILO-> System information -> FAN

Re: DL380p G8 fan control problems
I did it and it makes an interresting effect.
after the reset the funs run normally at first.
1,2 and 3 runs on 11% 4 runs on 34% 5and6 runs on 42%
the first 3 starts rise 1% by 1% and when they reached the limit of the 4th (34%) the 4th starts rise with the first 3 slowly
and when they reached the level of the 5th and 6th thely did the same, Slowly go faster and faster till they reach the 100%
and i reset the ilo again and it did the same. Any idea about this?
(I hope that you can understand the situation because my english)

Re: DL380p G8 fan control problems
What information is shown in the server IML and the iLO log? What is shown on the iLO page that shows the sensor temperatures?

Re: DL380p G8 fan control problems
BenceDeminger, the HDs are genuine of HPE ?
When the hd is not genuine the ILO can't manage the sensor of HD, so runs faster to protect the systemboard.
When you access the Intelligent Provisioning are fans runs faster ?
Can you do the diagnostic test by intelligent provisioning in Insight the diagnostic ? (nedd acces by F10 in boot)

Not always. Generally when this comes into play the sensor called 'HD Max' is missing which is not the case here. If the ROM or iLO or in an odd state the fans will spin up to max. Try resetting ROM with SW6 on the system board and set iLO to factory defaults
