DL385 G2 Quad Core AMD Performance

Could anyone advice that the performance boost maybe if I upgrade my DL385 G2 from 2* 2220(Dual Core 2.8Ghz 1M L2 Cache) to 2*2352(Quad Core 2.1Ghz 2M L3 Cache). I am running ESXi with 8G RM

Well... this really depends upon what you are running in your VM's.

Since you are not upgrading the memory, it is likely that you might not see a great jump in performance depending on your current utilization.

You will certainly have more processor cycles for your vm's... but if you are looking to increase the load, you probably need to upgrade the memory as well.

Steven, thanks for your advise. yes, i am planning to increase the RAM next step too. also, there are 8 memory slotts, do I need to follow any combination to maximise the data path?(I still want to keep my current 4*2G).
