After starting the agents loads goes up to 2,0!!

hp-snmp-agents version is:
hp-snmp-agents-8.2.0-284.rhel5

Re: DL385 G5p and hp-snmp-agents

same problem here except I'm running on bl460c. I had thought the package causing the problem was actually hp-health, but uninstalling this package also removes the snmp-agent. I will do further testing tomorrow. Are the snmp-agents required fo integrating into hpSIM, or can I get away without them?

Re: DL385 G5p and hp-snmp-agents

I think I've traced the cause of the problem to this process; cmasm2d

If i stop the process (by killing it, or running /opt/hp/hp-snmp-agents/server/etc/cmasm2d stop) then the load drops off.

It's possible to stop the process from starting automatically by adding the process into the exclude line in the conf file:
/opt/hp/hp-snmp-agents/cma.conf

but this isn;t fun if you have many servers.

Re: DL385 G5p and hp-snmp-agents

Same here with RHEL 5.3, kernel 2.6.18-138.el5 #1 SMP Fri Apr 3 18:07:22 EDT 2009 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux, on DL365 G1 and DL585 G2.

hp-snmp-agents-8.2.0-284.rhel5

Stopping cmasm2d solves the load average issue for me as well.

Re: DL385 G5p and hp-snmp-agents

Adjust the PFLAGS=â -p 30 $MOUSFLAGSâ line in /opt/hp/hp-snmp-agents/server/etc/cmasm2d to add â -w 5â for a 5 second delay.

This will change the polling cycle of the cmasm2d porcess.
