DL385 NIC ports, duplex and speed setting, PSP install...
Greetings all,
We have a situation where the built-in NIC ports on the DL385 G2 are reverting away from their set config (we disable one port and set the other to 100Mb/full duplex).
However, we are seeing them revert back to both enabled and both set to Auto on speed/duplex. The IP settings aren't reverting to DHCP, though.
I am thinking it might be the PSP install?
Any thoughts? Thanks.
Hilde

Re: DL385 NIC ports, duplex and speed setting, PSP install...
Thank you for the speedy and detailed reply!
However, I have approx 65 servers (running as W2k8 DCs). So far, this has happened only on two.
Before I initiate work to update them all to a new firmware/driver/PSP baseline, I'd like to better understand and be able to explain the cause of the issue.
I'm OK with updating them all if that is indeed the fix, but I will need to be able to explain to mgmt why this work needs to be done.
FYI - they are at PSP 8.25 which was rolled out this summer (via SCCM).

Re: DL385 NIC ports, duplex and speed setting, PSP install...
it just like windows update etc
firmware and drivers on Psp are updated almost monthly,
and not all issues are listed in the fixes ,
but you can look in ilo iml log, run offline diagnostics, with smart start cd,
uninstall drivers
disable devices
reboot then install drivers again ,
this Os is also vulnerable,
do QFE check do all servers have same patches etc did all install correct event log?
Major vendors do not do root casue analysis,
windebug at is best is circa 40% precise
thats with a full kernal dump , with page file on c drive,
alas option is firmwares and drivers
or install other nics to verify issue......
