DL560 and Intel Virtualization Technology for 64bit guest OS

Hi, I have been reading lots of conflicting information regarding the XEON MP (3.0GHz) being able to support Intel's Virtualization Technology. I am wanting to run a guest 64-bit OS within VMWare but am not able due to the dl560 not being setup to (or able) to run this.

Are these processors able to support VT and is there some firmware or update to switch on this functionality within the DL560 G1

If it's the model in the link below I don't think that's a 64 bit processor;

now, I am not an expert in this field but I thought some 32-bit processors support virtualisation technology that would allow to virtualise 64-bit OS (but not actually run a 64bit OS on the host.

the one in the link is the model I have

Hi,

If the server supports VT the option should be available in BIOS. Boot to RBSU and look for processor options. Ensure that you have updated BIOS installed. These servers support 64bit OS but functionality could be limited without VT.

This server also supports Vmware vitualization software as per quickspecs.

Please refer to the user manuals for further info on this software.
