DL580 CD Rom

I cannot boot a DL580 from the cdrom. When I install W2k from floppies and then go to setup, I am prompted that there is no cdrom installed. But (even tho its not supported) I can boot from the SS 7.5 cd just fine. Do I need an additional cdrom driver if boot from the floppies for W2k Server.? Any advice would be most appreciated. I am at wits end!!

Re: DL580 CD Rom

Win2k Startup Disks doesn't require any seperate driver for CD/DVD Drives

What is the Generation of the Proliant Server ?
Try an assisted installation through smart start CD.

Also try a manual installation by booting through a BOOTABLE O/S System CD(Windows or Linux )

Re: DL580 CD Rom

Its a first generation server (700-900)

It wont read SmartStart CD's...at least not the ones I have burned from ISOs I have downloaded. The only one it HAS read is the 7.5 cd which doesnt support Gen1 Proliant Servers. I tried booting from a bootable OS CD (Windows and about 3 flavors of Linux..even knoppix) but no luck.
