DL580 - Can you disable a CPU.

Hi

I have several DL585's (AMD Opteron) with quad processors. Because of MS SQL licensing I need to reduce the CPU count on these servers. I know I can physically remove the CPU's but I was wondering if it was possible to disable the CPU's without removal.

You can't disable
You need two or 4 CPU installed by default

Can you install single Core CPU ?

Clarification
if Dual - Install single core
if 4 you can remove 2
