DL580 Disc throughput performance

what is the standard data throughput for a DL580 with Ultra 160 73GB Discs.

What could be causing throughput to slow down & effect performance?

It depends on the HDDs, on the RAID and also on other tings.

Please provide more info for your problem.

Re: DL580 Disc throughput performance

hi

I agreee with Mi6t0.

check this:

Throughput: This number represents the theoretical maximum amount of data that can be moved across the SCSI bus, and is measured in millions of bytes per second (MB/s). On a narrow bus, throughput and transfer rate are the same, because each transfer is of 8 bits (one byte). But for a wide bus, throughput is double transfer rate, because each transfer is of 16 bits--two bytes.

Re: DL580 Disc throughput performance

I'm getting peaks of 8mbs & then flatlines of 15mbs. I suspect the 5i Controller or the cache mem mod on it?

Re: DL580 Disc throughput performance

Hi,

Run the Array Diagnostic Utility (ADU) and submit the report file in your next reply.
This can then be analysed for any underlying disk, 5i or cache problems.

If it's a Windows based system the ADU can be downloaded from here.

If it's already installed it can be accessed via Start-Programs-HP System Tools-HP Array Diagnostic Utility.
