DL580 G2 CPU upgrade: 102 - System board failure. Timer test failed.

I have a DL580 G2 with quad Xeon 1.4GHz. The machine is running smoothly. Yesterday, I tried to upgrade the 4 processors to 4 Xeon 2.8GHz ones. Boot up the machine, after the RAM test, it hangs with message like:

102 - system board failure. Timer test failed.

I have the latest BIOS installed (2004-09-15).

Any insight is appreciated.

Hi Robin,

As per the "Proliant Troubleshooting Guide" You need to replace the systemboard!!

But the machine still runs okay with 4x1.4GHz, which means the system board is good?
