DL580 G3 - Rebooting by Overheat Condition

Hello,

I have a DL580 G3 with PSP8.30 and Windows Server Enterprise 2003 x64.
We had/have a problem with room temperature, which forced the server to reboot due to excess heat on the processors.
Is it possible to define the speed of the processors fans to high speed? How?

I know there's a way to define the server to keep working when the thresholds are passed, but I did not activate that since I'm afraid it could damage Hardware.

Thanks in advance.

The fans will speed up to max speed as the server temperature increases. Do you know that they did not adjust their speed? Forcing the fans at max speed all the time is not necessary and it uses more energy which adds to the overheating issue.

Re: DL580 G3 - Rebooting by Overheat Condition

I'm not sure that they did not adjust their speed, altough in Systems Management Homepage "Home->System-> Cooling and Temperature" the CPU fans have the following information while the temperature is 79├В┬║C (the threshold is 85├В┬║C):

Speed -> Normal
Redundancy Style -> Redundant

Thanks for your the fast reply.

Most likely the fans functioned as expected. The fan control in usually inside the BIOS in the advanced settings.
