DL580 G3 fan issue

I have a 580 G3 that will not boot up or post. I opened up the cover and it said a fan had failed. The fan had an amber light so I put in a new one. Once the new fan was put in the green light came on and the fans slowed down. However 15 seconds later the same fan failed. I switched all the fans around and the same fan slot keeps failing. Any ideas on what to try?

Thank you

Re: DL580 G3 fan issue

Hi,

If the fans are failing in the same slot, then the problem seems to be with the slot.

In this scenario, I would update BIOS and also clear NVRAM from the System Maintenance Switch.

Good Luck!

Thank You!

Re: DL580 G3 fan issue

I am not able to get the CPU's to post nor start the boot process, my screen is blank the entire time. I will try those links.

I reset the dipswitch on 6 to reset the nvram and that didn't seem to do the trick. I thought on each section of fans you could have 1 fail and still run.

Thank you
