DL580 G5 - Booting from USB

Hi All-

I understand this is a very basic question but for whatever reason it's not working.

We have a DL580 G5, I'm attempting to update the BIOS using a USB key that I created using the ROMPAQ setup creation Utility. For whatever reason the server is not looking to the USB key for boot information. From what I can see I have all the correct setting in the BIOS

Any advise would be greatly appriciated

Thanks

Re: DL580 G5 - Booting from USB

Hi,
May be you have tried this one but a suggestion from my end is:

In the BIOS under System Options > USB Control

> When USB Enabled is selected, all USB ports and embedded devices are enabled.

> When Legacy USB Disabled is selected, all USB ports are enabled under a USB-aware OS, but USB is not supported during POST or RBSU. Legacy USB Disabled also disables iLO 2 virtual devices.

> When External USB Port Disabled is selected, external USB ports are disabled. Under this option, embedded USB devices still have full support under the ROM and OS.

Also under Standard Boot Order (IPL) > USB should be the first boot order.

Thanks

Sunman thanks for the feedback. I believe all those setting are good on our server but still can't boot from USB.

Re: DL580 G5 - Booting from USB

I assume that you have downloaded "Systems ROMPaq Firmware Upgrade for HP ProLiant DL580 G5 (P61) Servers, SP45240.exe"

And tried "HP USB Key ROMPAQ Setup Creation Utility" used HPQUSB.exe
If still having problems, try with different USB Key (sizes or manufacturer)
Also try in different USB Ports if available.
