DL580 G5 w/ 8 SAS Drives in RAID
Hi guys
I am kinda new to the world of HP and am getting really confused here :(
I need to spec a DL580 G5 to be a SQL server.
Now ideally I want to put 4 RAID1 pairs in it. hence use the 8 drive slots as standard.
Now i believe that this model comes with an embedded P400i controller inside. Now upon looking at the spec for that controller i think it says that it supports up to 6 drives. Is that correct? Would i need to buy another controller?
Any advice would be appreciated thanks.

Re: DL580 G5 w/ 8 SAS Drives in RAID
hi
ask Juan quesada says you don't need another controller don't worry
check this page 48
http://bizsupport.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c01062643/c01062643.pdf
you would need another controller if you want to add another 8 or less HDDs in the other cage.
maybe you read this
he SA-P400 Controller supports up to 18 drives depending on the server implementation. The SA-P400i Controller supports up to 6 drives depending on the server implementation
----------------
http://h18006.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/12400_na/12400_na.html
but it does not apply for this Dl580 G5
regards

Re: DL580 G5 w/ 8 SAS Drives in RAID
Many Thanks guys!
Yes you are right Karlo I read the specifications for the P400i controller. But still why dont they write 8 drives on the quick spec then. HP make this cofusing :(
