DL580 G7 - Max RAM for RHEL 5.5?

According to RedHat, the maximum memory for RHEL 5.5 is 256 GB, except for certain certified systems which support up to 1 TB RAM.

Is the DL580 G7 certified for more than 256 GB RAM under RHEL 5.5?

Thanks

Re: DL580 G7 - Max RAM for RHEL 5.5?

Hey, from the quickspecs:

http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/13669_na/13669_na.html

Maximum 2TB (64 x 32GB)*
* Intel® Xeon® Processor E7 series powered only, 1TB max on 7500 series

It also varies depending on which CPU you have.

I tried to find and see if there were any additions of any specifics to an OS but couldn't find any.

Doesn't red hat keep a list of the certified systems? I looked briefly but couldn't see any either..

Re: DL580 G7 - Max RAM for RHEL 5.5?

RedHat have this doc: https://access.redhat.com/kb/docs/DOC-
43407.pdf

Which says "Some systems certified on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 (RHEL 5) have been certified with 1TB of RAM, which is greater than the amount listed as supported under RHEL 5 on the supported limits page http://
www.redhat.com/rhel/compare/... These systems were certified after extensive in-house testing with 1TB of RAM to ensure
that operating beyond the published limits would not cause any issues."

The RedHat certified hardware catalog says that the DL580 G7 is certified, but doesn't mention any RAM limits. I can only find knowledgebase articles which mention specific Dell and Bull servers are being certified for additional memory.
