DL580 G7 overheat temperature sensor 17

We have a DL580 G7 that shut down due to "overheating" and since then turns off 1 second after poweron for the same reason. I'm pretty sure that nothing can be overheating after 1 second, at that point in time the fans haven't even fully spun up yet. The temperature sensor that causes this false alert seems to be "Temperature Sensor 17" (according to the ilo logs). Any hints on where that sensor might be located?

Something in IML?

Hope this helps!

Well tons of

Automatic Operating System Shutdown Initiated Due to Overheat Condition

System Overheating (Temperature Sensor 17, Location System, Temperature 61C)

(repeat x500, always with exactly 61 degrees)

Which is exactly why I'm trying to find out where said Sensor 17 is. "Location System" isn't exactly helpfully detailed. I mean it's clear that it's probably some sensor that has failed and the only way to solve the problem will be to replace the failed component. The question is whether that component is the mainboard, or the SPI, or the power backplane, or something entirely different...

Re: DL580 G7 overheat temperature sensor 17

This version should be OK.

Most of these "system" sensors are there to measure the I/O card slots.

What happens, if you remove additional cards?

I have no idea where this sensor is ... :-(

Hope this helps!

There only ever was one card, and removing it doesn't help. Neither does updating to ILO3 1.85 which I've done since.

Hello Torten,

have you found a solution?

I ran in a similar problem. When I add a additional hard drive the temperatur goes up and the fans speed up to 90 %. Without the additional hard drive they stay at 35 %.

The temperatursensor 17 recorded higher values.
