DL580 fans slowly ruining my hearing

Your right about the noise. The old G1's are like standing behind a small aircraft.
If you have done an assisted install of the OS with SmartStart 5.5, then upgrade the SmartStart version to at least SSD ver6.4

You have done all you can. These are a great work horse, but they use plenty of power and are very loud...

You can now download a firmware update CD from HP and the latest SmartStart.

Hi Booka,

Unfortunatley Variable-speed fans are not a feature of the DL580 G1 server according to my research on this issue.

I don't believe you will get a solution for this at this point in time other than to live with it.
