DL580 network card prb

Hi 2 all,
I've 2 DL580G2 servers both of them a similar type of NC7170 10/100/1000 cards installed in it.
now the prb we are facing is that each network card has 2 interfaces and eth0 on both servers is connected to a cisco switch and the both it's LED's are green
We r usin eth1 for connecting these servers through a cross cable.one of the upper LED on eth1 is green and the other one is RED.
We are able to ping both the systems successfully. but the TTL is 64.
What i want to know is y this LED is RED and is that 64 data rate is maximum which is recieve.
OS running on these machines is RED HAT Linux.

Re: DL580 network card prb

Hi Fayyaz,

TTL doesn't mean tha data rate, it means for how long the packet should be live ( to how many router hops this packet should travel). So TTL 64 is normal thing for you, however you can define your own TTL for security resons on firewall.

Checked the cross-cable ?
you apear to have a Gigabit NIC, so you should us a 4-pair cross-cable (not 2-pair)
