DL580 will not boot up

We have 2 newly purchased DL580 G4 servers and they are *both* exhibiting the same problem. When attempting to restart the servers, they will successfully complete the shutdown but then they do not iniate the boot up. We have to physically cycle the power to get both servers to boot up again. There are no errror messages generated and nothing logged to indicate what the problem might be, so we're not even sure where to start troubleshooting. Since the behavior is consistent on both machines it seems unlikely that we looking at faulty hardware, though we're not ruling anything out yet. Any suggestions would be welcome.

Re: DL580 will not boot up

What is the OS installed on the servers?
What is the memory configuration?
You said that the server hangs, could you explain where exactly it hangs?
Have you tried installing the latest PSP on this server?
For Microsoft Windows Server 2003:

Re: DL580 will not boot up

OS = Windows 2000, SP4
Memory = 4 Dimms totalling 8GB, all registering functional

The hang-up occurs right at the point in a restart when the shutdown portion has completed, the screen goes black, and the bootup *should* commence...except that nothing further happens until we cycle the power. It's as if the servers are performing a shutdown instead of restart, only they doesn't actually power off.

Latest PSP: 7.60A is installed on both machines

Re: DL580 will not boot up

Hi there,

We have all our new DL580 G4 servers experiencing the same issue as you too.

We are suspecting the ROM firmware to be the issue. Will be downloading the latest one to try out.
Shall update the results when possible.

Any other suggestions from anyone would be appreciated as well.

Cheers!

Re: DL580 will not boot up

We have the exact same problem on about 4 DL580 G2's. If anyone comes up with a solution, I would be intrested in it as well.
