DL580 with Dual Channel Ultra320 / 2 tape drives...

Hi folks,

We have a DL580 G4 running W2K3 Standard, tried to install:

1x 268351-B21 - Dual channel Ultra320 SCSI HBA
2x DW017B - Ultrium 448 External Tape Drive

Now, the first tape drive in the first channel works fine, but the second drive in the second channel is not recognized, not even in the controller's POST messages.

We've already swaped and verified cables, terminators, SCSI channels with no luck so far.

Ideas?

Any help will be greatly appreciated, thanks

Try to update the firmware of the SCSI Card:

http://www.lsilogic.com/cm/DownloadSearch.do

I believe LSIs number is LSI 22320A.

If you install the firmware make sure to install the driver also.

What happends if you put only 1 of the Tape drives in the Second channel (put the Tape Drive connected to Channel 1) leaving channel 1 empty. If that doesn't work probably you have a defective SCSI Card.

The SCSI Card that you are connecting is not listed under the supported options in the quickspecs of your server:
