DL580G2 w/ P600?

DL580G2 w/ P600?

I've got DL580G2 database server running Windows 2000 that needs expansion, and I don't want to pay retail for legacy U320 300GB drives. Would prefer to buy a MSA50 and 300GB SAS drives. Will the P600 controller work in the DL580 G2 under Windows 2000 and let me hook up to SAS enclosure?

Thanks,
tsw

The P600 is a PCIe card and the DL580G2 has only PCI-X slots. No dice here. I doubt that you would be able to find a PCI-X controller card for SAS disks.

I suggest you look for U320 drives on ebay or buy generic (nonHP) U320 drives and screw them on the DL brackets of the old drives to install them.

The p600 is a PCI-x card so it will physically work. Not sure about windows 2000 or if it is compatible in a dl580. Find a place with a good return policy and give it a try.

Re: DL580G2 w/ P600?

I stand corrected. I was thinking of the P800. The P600 is indeed a PCI-X controller but it is running at 133MHz. Not sure if it will adjust to the G2, based on the quick specs in my first replay, all its PCI slots are at 100MHz.
