DL580G5 boot Delay

I've got two DL580G5s that appear to have a delay when starting up. When they are powered on or rebooted they sit at a blank screen for about 2 minuets before the first HP splash screen is shown. I'm trying to ascertain if this is normal behaviour for these models and what the server might be doing during this phase of it's start up process (in particular would the servers be checking their RAM at this point as they both have 128GB)

Re: DL580G5 boot Delay

128GB of RAM could be doing a memory POST test before booting. It could take 2 minutes to scan 128GB. Check the BIOS for settings regarding splash screen enabled.

Re: DL580G5 boot Delay

Are you saying that you have more DL580 G5's with a similar configuration, but there two are the only ones which take this long? Updating the BIOS can in some cases shorten this somewhat as newer versions may have better/faster memory checking, but I believe what you are seeing is normal.
The truth is out there, but I forgot the URL..
