DL585 G5 not recognizing ram above 32gb
I recently acquired a DL585 G5, 4 cpu, 128gb ram. Problem is that I can't seem to get it to recognize ram above 32gb. I've tested all ram in the outer most 2 slots of all 4 banks and all the ram is good. As soon as I start populating the next bank I get errors that th whole bank is bad. all are 4gb sticks identicall right down to the part#.

Re: DL585 G5 not recognizing ram above 32gb
Hello
You must populate your RAM in a specific order.
You can find the information in this two link
The first is for the DL585 G5
https://support.hpe.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-c05284975
The second is a configuration tool that you ca use for the proliant server, selet the type of ram DDR3 or DDR4 and follow the assistant is very easy

Re: DL585 G5 not recognizing ram above 32gb
I beleive I had done that. The information I found was to populate starting with the slots furthest from the processors. I started with 2-4gb sticks and got it to boot up succcessfully with 32gb, Ever since, the panel under the cover I get a code 42 and all the lights for memory next to proc1 are yellow. I have personally tested all this ram, every stick. To allevate any error in memory population I enven completely populated EVERY slot with identical 4gb sticks, same error. One time I did get an error on the proc4 lights, one only, same code 42.

Re: DL585 G5 not recognizing ram above 32gb
BTW, the second link doesn't work at all, it gives a server error.

Re: DL585 G5 not recognizing ram above 32gb
I found this page:
https://support.hpe.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-c01446144
and the very last example has what I have installed, 128GB of ram.
However I don 't understand what "Maximum Memory (Standard replaced with Optional Memory)" means.
I still get the 42 under the cover and all the lights on membank one are yellow.
