DL785 G6 Windows 2012?

Hi,

a customer has a bunch of DL785 G6 Proliant servers and want to install Windows 2012 on them.

From the driver repository on HP website no Windows 2012 is listed.

Is it planned from HP to support those machines with drivers & firmware for Windows 2012 in the future?

Hi,

Windows Server 2012 is supported on G7 and above servers.

G6 and below servers are not supported.

Thats not correct, DL 360 G6 and DL380 G6 are supported if you go to "previous servers" so why not these **bleep** DL785?

Hi,

I am not aware of the technicalaties about processor and RAM.

DL785 being AMD, I guess that processor does not support Windows 2012.

This is what I think, the processors and RAM may not support Windows 2012.

Only those two G6 server hardware is compatible with Windows 2012.

there is for sure nothing incompatible between AMD CPUs and win2012... It is only good will missing in HP side to certify such expensive servers with newer OS. Similar situation is with G5/G6 server and newer VMware releases... Dell certifies server with similar age/technology without any problem, HP only in ocasion of pressure.

My recommendation is to speed with your HP sales representative...

I agree with Jan Soska that an HP Sales representative would be the way to go. I have contacts that I can put you in touch with if you would like. Another option is to contact HP Total Care to see if there is a work around or other drivers that are downloadable to your DL785 G6 for Windows 2012.
